THE UGLY FACE OF THE BNP IN EDINBURGH.

And here they are hooded and sporting the union flag.
They were however having trouble keeping it up much to the hilarity of the now gathering crowd who were becoming increasingly annoyed by them.

They did there best to look really hard and almost carried it of until the action kicked of. Then they bottled it.
The Union flags were dragged down by an unamed warrior who was now on the ground being cuffed.

Another hard case arrived to be greeted by Lothians finest who did a splendid job and cleared up the mess real good.

The unnamed  hero is escorted away to much cheering and clapping. I do not know who you are Sir but I salute you. I hope you do not get charged as your actions were perfectly in order.

That was the only slight problem in what was an excellent day. No drunkenness in fact very little drinking was in evidence it was a huge success. The turn out was massive, the BBC website puts it at 5,000. I say that is nonsense and that the turnout was over 10,000 easily.

A massive congratulation to the organisers they have done Scotland proud. I am so proud to have been part of it and so uplifted by the spirit and courage on display there today. Well done to all.

what really got me was not the union flags 'which are bad enough' but that the police allowed three loyalist extremist ? BNP (has this been confirmed yet?) to stand next to flags, dressed in dark, hooded and and stages with there faces covered while a forth person was directing the action. They tried to stand in a paramilitary way in a area of the gardens that people aint allowed to be in.
If they were just wishing to counter protest they could have had the flags up on the rails at the top of the bank. At the time I thought the police were too slow at getting to the ?BNP guy as he assaulted the 'unnamed hero' but looking at the event on youtube were quick enough. afterall actions can appeare slow when events are happening.
To sum up, there is a place for counter protests but not in a paramilitary way and BUT the police should have removed these idiots before one of the pro independence marchers did.

The police looked like they wanted to but you could see with the constant radio traffic that they were being held back for fear of causing an incident the press were all over it also. The police acted very well I thought they are damned if they do and damned if they don't. The hooded fuckwits got short shrift, that is the main thing and the rally was a fantastic success. The police were in general very friendly and helpful, they seemed to be very impressed by it all and were interested in the speeches. The behaviour of the crowd was impeccable. No bevying or abusing anyone, the unionist press must have been really pissed of. Eddie Barnes looked like he was sucking a lemon. I honestly believe our independence is now inevitable.

thanks for your comments KBW...I am responsible for 'picking up litter' as I told the police...non the less, I spent 8 hours in a holding cell & received a charge of 'Breach of the Peace', to appear next month at their place of Business...
...Civil not Criminal...no Injured Party...do I respond to their Strawman ?

Well done Mark you are a true hero, I trust the knuckle dragger's were also charged with a breach of the peace as they are on film flicking V signs and shouting abuse. The more I hear about this the more I am drawn to the conclusion that this was organised from our political opponents trying to discredit the march with trouble. They failed just like their NO campaign. I think they looked pretty shocked when you mounted your litter clearing exercise, it was a classic flanking move. They also seemed shocked at the vast numbers whop gathered to greet them. Montgomery would be so proud of you. I tried to engage one of the oiks in conversation but his lips were sealed so I could not get a handle on his accent. He was very annoyed at me for taking his picture though as you can see. I am sorry you missed the occasion by being held in a cell. To keep someone for 8 hours is bonkers. Although it kept you from the rallie so I guess they did what they felt they had to do to protect the state and the status quo. However if you are subsequently found guilty and fined I will make it my business to mount a campaign on Facebook or some other medium to pay your costs. Well done once more. Keep in touch Mark.

hello again KBW...just to round up this page...the breach of the peace charges were dropped against me..a few days past...The police have sited me as there witness against the BNP nutjob...who after meeting at the court on two occasions...is for sure an immature bigoted retard..Im off the hook, though...seems the Police exaggerated(lied) claiming the were charged at by 20+ raging yes supporters...? the judge saw the video evidence didnt fit there story...hmmm...im being chased for the £170 parking fine i accrued whilst in the holding cell...not to mention the £60 diesel getting to Edinburgh for the trial...lesson learned methinks.

thanks for your efforts KBW

hello again...just to round up this page,,,my breach of the peace case was thrown out on Monday...im off the hook.
apparently the police had said 20+ yes campaigners had rushed them, which was contradicted by the video evidence...
never the less Im being chased for the £170 parking fine i incurred during the 10 hours in the holding cell...they will never see a penny of that. and im out of pocket for the £40 diesel costs going to the court twice...
the other guy is still being prosecuted...and the crown has sited me as there witness...can you believe it...
thanks kbw
