The North Sea.

Recent geological reports from Norway have confirmed that over the past 3 decades the sea level in the North Sea has reduced by some 25mm.

This has led to calls from environmentalists to stop test drilling in the area as divers have reported unusual strong currents around abandoned bore holes as the sea water pours into the rock strata beneath.

It has also created calls for feasibility studies to see if this is sustainable and could take pressure of the Thames barrier during tidal surges to protect London from flooding.

So once more Scotland's territorial waters will save The City.

Lil Roopaf is a geologist working with Stat Oil in the North Sea.
