Cromwell. The hand of History........

He knew a thing or to about Westminster and the dark secrets within:

“In the Name of God, Go”
April 20, 1653

It is high time for me to put an end to your sitting in this place, which you have dishonoured by your contempt of all virtue, and defiled by your practice of every vice; ye are a factious crew, and enemies to all good government; ye are a pack of mercenary wretches, and would like Esau sell your country for a mess of pottage, and like Judas betray your God for a few pieces of money; is there a single virtue now remaining amongst you? is there one vice you do not possess? ye have no more religion than my horse; gold is your God; which of you have not barter’d your conscience for bribes? is there a man amongst you that has the least care for the good of the Commonwealth? ye sordid prostitutes have you not defil’d this sacred place, and turn’d the Lord’s temple into a den of thieves, by your immoral principles and wicked practices? Ye are grown intolerably odious to the whole nation; you were deputed here by the people to get grievances redress’d, are yourselves become the greatest grievance. Your country therefore calls upon me to cleanse this Augean stable, by putting a final period to your iniquitous proceedings in this House; and which by God’s help, and the strength he has given me, I am now come to do; I command ye therefore, upon the peril of your lives, to depart immediately out of this place; go, get you out! Make haste! Ye venal slaves be gone! So! Take away that shining bauble there, and lock up the doors. In the name of God, go

I am fine Rosie, been working away on my Landie, it is now an ongoing project, as I do one job I see another needing my attention, but it will be worth it, I get great satisfaction from engineering and making things work better and look better. And it helps to clear the brain fog i am struggling with.

The chopper crash in the north Sea got to me, as I know some of the people affected by it, I have a lot of friends and family who work of shore, and I feel the way I felt after the Phantom went down in The Clyde, as I had met some of them during my spell on the river. It will pass.

Quite frankly I have slipped into a kind of despair regarding politics, and blogging and forums just seem so banal now. There seems to be no end to the drip drip of greed and corruption from these people who inhabit a parallel universe.

Thanks for your kind words, hope you are well.

Sorry to hear you're under the weather, KBW.

I think it would be great a shame if you decided to give up the blogging game. I'm still new to it, but yours was one that stood out and inspired me to get into blogging in the first place.

Particularly liked the recent spleen venting re the tartan chicken.

Classic.

The blues gets us all sometimes KW.
My ex brother in law spend six months doing up a diesel long-wheelbase; the first time(the first five seconds in fact) that he went off road in it, he put it into a ditch.

He can laugh about it *now*...

Conan, it is a bug that takes hold of you, and you just cannot stop, when I see a proper Landie I have to have a nose around it. I'm not a big fan of the Freelander and such. But I hope to avoid the ditch, it's like being at sea, if you don't respect it you will get bitten.

Outlander, thanks, it will pass, having a workshop is very theraputic and I would reccomend it to any man, (no disrespect Rosie ;o) It is a sanctuary where you can contemplate your next project, and sometimes actually work on it.

I like listening to Real Radio and was in stiches yesterday listening to Robin Galloways wind up with the wifie supposedly 89, and on her roof in Galashiels phoning the Sky TV technical help line and asking them if they were getting her alright as she had cleaned her dish and wanted it lined up. They even had the sound of low flying jets, it was fantastic, the Sky operator was almost in tears begging her to get down. I think it is on You Tube.

Thanks for your comments they are appreciated.

I hear ye KBW. The crap media is what really gets me PO'd.

No articles on toxic dumping and illegal fishing off Somalia's coast but plenty about the pirates. No follow up regarding the disappearance of the Glenrothes electoral register. No journalistic indignation at the erosion of liberty, the use of torture, illegal wars, gross corruption. It's all treated as business as usual.

We need bloggers like yourself to keep the press honest.

Thanks Scunnert. Totally agree on the media. The way that labour can have bad news wiped of the front pages is just sickening.

I have to get my tuppence worth in here. KW I have a workshop, it can be therapeutic occasionally but the labour is usually enjoyable. It's called a house but I call it my home :)

Oh, I've also a workbench in the garage for these finer jobs such as planing doors, sharpening gardening tools etc. Impressed? You'd better be!

Have a wee look at the video I put up with the older woman singing. That would lift anyone's spirits for a few minutes - it did mine.

I am impressed, planing doors, you need a man in your workshop ;o)

The lassie from Blackburn is very good and she will srub up ok when the TV people take her under their wing, left a comment on your blog.

Good luck to her.

Kw I've a lodger who, if seriously threatened, will take doors off but fortunately they all seem fine these days since the new carpets settled last year.

Kw, I don't need a 'man' in my workshop, I need a man who knows what he's doing, big difference. I learned a little about wood and woodworking machines at an army night school many years ago. The class was cancelled the following year because the MOD said it wasn't well supported. The place was chock ablock with a waiting list! I remember the teacher's name was Neil and he was excellent. I could still use a circular saw with confidence (I would say that wouldn't I) but perhaps my friends are happy I only possess a couple of vices and a selection of saws and planes. The hands aren't as strong as they were, but hey, there are so many much worse off than me.

Auch sorry to blether on.

Your blethering is most welcome Rosie.

Encouraging wifies to be competent with tools was always a fetish of mine ;o)
