From David McCann
For some time now I have believed that BBC Scotland have a distinctly anti SNP Government agenda. Their treatment of yesterday’s news story about the failings that led to thousands of people being infected with HIV and hepatitis C, was nothing short of what is termed in the media as a ‘knocking piece’.

Contrast that with the report on the ‘main’ BBC 6 o clock news, who reported that the two-year inquiry, by Lord Archer of Sandwell, criticised successive UK governments for refusing to admit any fault or hold an investigation, forcing this public inquiry to rely on private donors, unlike the Scottish Government, who initiated their own inquiry.

Wouldn’t you have thought that BBC Scotland would have welcomed the fact that our Scottish Government are in fact gathering evidence from the UK Government (as Nicola Sturgeon pointed out on GMS earlier in the day).
Was this fact reported on Reporting Scotland TV at 6.30?
Not a mention- no quote from Nicola – just the most negative, shameful piece of reporting I have witnessed for some time.
It’s time we exposed this bias at the heart of our own BBC Scotland, who seem to be cheerleading the Unionist cause now on a daily basis.

Am I Wrong to Feel sorry For the Journalists at BBC Scotland?

Tonight on “Reporting Scotland” the Beeb were at there Unionist best…..the subject was the report on the inquiry into the blood infections passed on to haemophiliacs. They attempted to make the case that the SNP’s promised inquiry hasn’t started and can’t possibly achieve anything that hasn’t already been achieved by Lord Archer’s report…..in short the Scottish report will be a waste of time and money. The BBC’s slant was conveyed via a haemophiliac and a lawyer. What was missing was

  1. The Health Secretary putting the Scottish Government’s case.
  2. Lord Archer stating (as he had done earlier in the day during a radio interview) that there was much information still to come from Scotland, and that Scotland had played a lead role in the science.

Mind you if they had let Nicola put her case then the BEEB would have failed in their efforts to rubbish the SNP.

Imagine being a journalist at BBC Scotland, wanting to be professional and turn out balanced professional journalism, and then being expected to turn out drivel like this. I suspect you wouldn’t be a happy bunny. Or am I being naive, are there no journalists in this organisation worthy of the label well balanced & professional?.

Thanks guys,
Yes, there have been some quite appalling incidents of bias recently on the BBC,many with quite insidious use of camera shots. The other night for example the dispute between Darling and the First Minister was presented with Darling showing the utmost reasonableness against totally unconnected voiced- out shots of the First Minister in full flow against Gray in the budget debate some weeks previously. This is distortion, dissimulation and downright deceit on the grand scale. Nationalists have made The Scotsman,The Herald and the Daily Record pay very dearly for their bias The BBC thinks it is immune from this sort of thing. It is not. Mass withholding of Licence fees may be on the cards.

I already boycott the BBC. NO money from me. And I know 'they' know who I am.

Glen Campbells opening comments to Salmond in the interview were laced with subtext, lots of words like gloating, puffed up etc heart on sleeves.

Juan you missed out extremely bad manners with continually interrupting him.

KBW I subscribe to David Vance's biased BBC blog. He's got it right just about.

Aye Rosie the Biased BBC Blog is good but does not seem to touch on the BBC "regions," as Scotland is classified by the Empire builders.

There is a huge vacum opening up in the media market right now in Scotland. The demise of the so called 'quality' newspapers is rapid and looks as if it will all end in tears. I just wonder if their is someone out there who can put together a newspaper that Scots could trust as impartial, if indeed such a thing exists. I suppose all news papers are subject to political engineering from the elite class who think they know best. Trouble is it ain't working.

However I just find it so irritating that I now look at the news paper display in my local and turn away. Although today i bought the Telegraph, (sssh,) because it had a vitriolic piece on Salmonds speech in America and Simon Johnston quoted a "source close to the UK government," ie. Johnston,as saying, "a cynical attempt by salmond to equate himself with people of historical significance." He added:"Alex Salmond's delusional and embittered rant shows how desperate the Nationalists have become. He needs to focus on the fact that the people in Scotland don't want their country to be seperated from the rest of the UK and focus on powers he has to help them through the economic turmoil."

A very substantial and bigoted quote from a source close to the UK goverment. So substantial that you really would thinkm that they would want to put their name to it, but no in Telegraph land it is anon. That quote then can only have been fabricated by a bigot like the so called journalist that fabricated the article.

The other thing of course is that it does not appear in the UK edition, or on line, so as far as I am concerned is yet another cynical piece of Britnat propaganda spoon fed to Scotland through the biased UK media, dark arts indeed.

Now then if a simple man like me can see through this pish, then I am sure that most people can. I say simple not implying that I am mentaly defective but that I really used to enjoy reading newspapers, especially on a Sunday, one of lifes simple pleasures, like fixing my Landy, fishing, hill walking, enjoying nature and the beautiful country I feel priveledged to share with you all, but these crooked dishonest cynical bastards are taking even that reading pleasure away.

Saor Alba.

PS this is going on the main page, I am enraged.
